Antwerp: H. Paasch 1894, 3rd edition, 8th thousand. Titles: English 'From Keel to Truck'; French 'De la Quille a la Pomme de Mat'; German 'Vom Kiel zum Flaggenknopf', with foreword in Dutch. Paasch presents an illustrated maritime encyclopedia with over 500 pages of nautical definitions and information, in three columns (English, French, German), plus 103 engraved plates with keys in each of the three languages, plus separate indices in each language. Large 4to in fine navy blue cloth, ornately embossed and gilt-stamped front board and spine, marbled endpapers, 509pp of text plus 206pp of plates & keys, plus 63pp of indices, minor shelf-wear, owner's inscription on verso of frontispiece and small name-stamp on title o/w no marks, contents clean and tight with no foxing, overall a Very Good copy of one of the early editions of this highly regarded and useful reference.

10 Willaumez Dictionnaire de Marine, avec Huit Planches

Paris: 1831, 3rd edition. Text in French, with errata page bound in at end, six folding plates in fine condition some reinforced at folds, hand colored plate depicting flags and signals is excellent. Rebound in green buckram with new endpapers, spine embossed 'Dictionnaire de Marine,' very light foxing at outer edges but not effecting text, very light damping at top of first few pages. A famous work supplied to French universities and libraries at the time of publication; this copy from the library of the famous contemporary modeller August F. Crabtree, with his stamp.
