1 Dow, George F. Sailing Ships of New England, The: Series Three

Salem MA: Marine Research Society, Publication No. 18, 1928 edition LIMITED to 97 (87 for sale) of which this is No. 35. In this third in the series of three, Dow provides additional pictorial representations of old-time sailing ships, with the Introduction giving an outline of Massachusetts shipbuilding and a reference list of vessels built at East Boston 1835-1858. No dust jacket, 4to half-bound in American vellum and blue paper, 45 pages of text (several uncut), 215 illustrations, light shelf-wear and minor soiling to spine, slight discoloration on front endpaper where bookplate was affixed, contents clean and tight with no marks, overall a Very Good copy of this scarce and desirable edition.

In this second in the series of three, John Robinson and George Francis Dow provide additional pictorial representations of old-time sailing ships, especially clippers, with the Introduction entirely devoted a biographical account of Donald McKay. No dust jacket, 4to half-bound in American vellum and blue paper, 51 pages of text, 245 illustrations, light shelf-wear and minor soiling to spine, slight discoloration on front endpaper where bookplate was affixed, contents clean and tight with no marks, overall a Very Good copy of this scarce and desirable edition.
